The verbena in question is a low-growing plant with spreading stems that flowers all summer in shades of red, pink and purple mostly.

It is usually treated as summer bedding and discarded but cuttings can be taken in early August  and over-wintered as small plants in a frost-protected greenhouse, a conservatory, or a sunny window sill indoors.
