We have lots & lots of daffodils, all various varieties. This year a large % of the Daffodils failed to flower & left us with leaves only. Why did this happen?

If this happened one year to the next and not gradually over several years, it is likely that the summer weather last year got too dry for the bulbs to form flowers and they will return to normal next spring.
