Damaged Hedging

Catherine Sheehy asked 13 years ago

We have replaced escallonia with laurel at front. We have Grisalina of bout 400 foot down over 10 years, on clearing all leaves from around it and feeding with fish and bone, seems as if there are tiny shoots at bottom in part. Should we cut the top down alot to give it a chance. What would be best hedge for quite wet in winter and for shade. A fast growing hedge.

If griselinia has shoots, the dead top can be cut back to just about the new shoots.

No hedge likes wet soil.

Yew or laurel is good in part-shade.  Laurel is fast growing.
