My leylandi hedge was destroyed by frost.I would like to replace it with Escallonia. Is there a hardy type of escallonia which would be suitable.

Escallonia is not fully hardy and has been damaged by frost, and also recently by leaf spot disease. But a frost fo such severity is very unusual.

Ordinary green holly would be a good choice of hardy wind-resistant hedge.
