Our escallonia hedge is losing its leaves again this year due to leaf spot, this happened at the end of summer 2009 also. Is there anything we can do to stop this. We have this type of hedge for many years and thought the loss of leaves was due to the wet summer 2009 but we had a much better summer this year. What can we do to fix.

Escallonia leaf spot is here to stay and will continue to be a problem. True, it is worse in wet years, but only worse not absent. Try applying a fertiliser with high potash that might harden the leaves but spraying is not a solution.
If there is no improvement, you will have to consider replacement.
