My friend planted an olive tree in Clane last year. The frost got at it and appeared to kill it, this year new shoots grew out at the base. Should we cut them out and is the rest of the tree dead or what should we do?

Remove the dead shoots and cover the new shoots with an old blanket during any hard frost next winter.

Olive trees are marginal in Clane!
