frost damaged myrtle?

Olga Fay asked 13 years ago

I have two variagated myrtle shrubs in the garden that have lost all their leaves (except for a little few around the base). Is this a result of the harsh winter? Can anything be done with these? Thanks

Probably ‘Glanleam’, a variegated form of Chilean myrtle, Luma apiculata. It can be damaged by frost and the variegated kind is less tolerant. It might resprout from the base and the dead parts cna be cut away when you can see what’s happening.
