Golden privet hedge dying

Jackie O\’Brien asked 14 years ago

I have a hedge of golden privet that was planted about 7/8 years ago. This past year about 3 or 4 of the plants have died, I notice some more starting to die. I had a lovely hedge around the garden but now there are gaps where the plants have died. Any idea what’s causing this?

This is probably honey fungus which severely affects privet and plants die at random but rarely more than a small fraction,

There is nothing can be done, only to remove the dying plants. Re-planting runs the risk of further dmage, although common laurel is more resistant.
