asked 14 years ago

My gooseberries got a whiteish grey mould this year, fruit never grew properly and plant looks very poor. What do I do?

The greyish mould is gooseberry mildew, which can be rubeed off and the gooseberries are still okay to use. However, it can weaken the bush.

You can either spray with a systemic fungicide when the first flowers open and agian when they are pea-sized, or plant a resistant variety such as ‘Invicta’.
