There are various caterpillars that may be green with white stripes, such as cabbage white caterpillars, cabbage moth caterpillars and various kinds of cutworms.

The food plant is a good indicator of which kind, the cabbage types sticking mainly to the cabbage family and the cutworms have wider tastes. Cutworms can be found at soil level and are usually few in number and can be removed. The others, if too numerous, might need to treated with caterpillar spray.
