Identify my Cactus

Caroline McGonagle asked 16 years ago

Hi Gerry would appreciate any help you could give me or pointers in identifying my cactus. I have added the photos to my garden as there was no facility here. The cactus has 4 colums each 3cm in diameter. It is now 6 ft tall. Thanks Passiflora

This looks like the ‘old man cactus’, or cephalocereus from Mexico. It can grow very tall and usually unbranched, but several stems together. There are a few species, some with longer white hair than others.

It likes well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine.
