Is this a kumquat?

Daniel Walsh asked 10 years ago

My father gave me this plant before Christmas and said it was a kumquat grown from seed of fruit sourced in Florida. I gave it to a friend who has an orangery thinking that it should fit in nicely. The thing is that it doesnt resemble a kumquat plant from what we can see. Do you have an idea what this could be?

That looks like loquat, which is Eriobotrya japonica and can survive outdoors in a mild area with wall protection, but is fine in a greenhouse.

It produces an edible fruit with large brown seeds, but only in a warm sunny climate.
