laurel hedging going brown at tips

Mairead Cullen asked 13 years ago

I planted laurel hedging last october but i have noticed in the last couple of weeks the tips of the leaves have turned brown. What could be causing this? and some of the new growth have also withered and turned brown. i put 10 10 20 fertiliser on it about 6 weeks ago as i was advised by my local garden centre as the leaves were turning yellow and they believed the soil was lacking nutrients.

Laurel and many other trees and shrubs have suffered some wind damage in recent weeks, especially as a new hedge is not fully established yet.

Too much fertiliser can exaccerbate this. Keep weeds down and it will grow out.
