Laurell transplant shock

I planted 300 bare root loral hedge at the end of March, since then the leafs have gone yellow and on some plants most the leafs fell off alot of the plants. I Gave them chicken manure and the new groth is starting on most plants, But should I cut the top off of some of the longer leggy plants so soon after transplant shock

The plants were short of water and lost leaves in reaction. Feeding should be held off until new growth is seen.

Cutting back is not of any significant benefit.
