I have bought a Star Magnolia tree and on the package is written plant in acidic soil, which I did. But I’ve just read here plant in any ordinary soil. Have I killed my magnolia?

The star magnolia, Magnolia stellata, will grow perfectly well in any soil, acidic or limy, as long as it iw well-drained. Water each week until it is growing actively and mulch the root area with decayed leaves.
