Creeping buttercup has taken over quite a sizeable border which contains mainly perennials. What can I do, please?

This is a difficult problem. The best way is to simply chop out the buttercups with a spade … laborious but effective … and remove all the chopped out bits with a rake. Any missed bits can then be seen and the pieces will not re-root.
It would be possible to use Roundup but it needs to be used at a high rate and it can damage plants if it drifts. Also you will still have to take out buttercups close to plants.
