Pruning camelias

Donal Moynihan asked 14 years ago

I have a very healthy camelia in a pot having already repotted it into a bigger pot but I fear it will eventually die unless I plant it out in my garden.Unfortunately the soil in my garden is not acid soil. The camelia is now five feet tall. Have you any suggestions as to how I might maintain my healthy camelia?

A camellia can be kept in a pot for many years, carrying out light pruning after flowering, and making sure to feed each month from April to September and to water regularly as needed.

Prune by reaching into the bush and shortening some of the longer branches back without spoiling the natural shape.
