From a friend, I got what was called a ‘Spinach Tree’, no further info was given. Any idea, what kind of plant/care/use?

Chaya, a Mexican leaf vegetable, is also known as ‘tree spinach’ or ‘spurge nettle’. It is a member of the Euphorbia family, with stinging hairs and poisonous sap, and must be cooked.
It is tender and cannot tolerate any frost.
