Using bug spray on herbs

Ruth Murphy asked 15 years ago
I used an organic bug spray from Tesco (contains 20g/l natural fatty acids and HEXAHYDRO-1,3,5-TRIS(2-HYDROXY-ETHYL)-SYM-TRIAZINE) on parsley, thyme and other herbs that I have growing on my balcony. They were covered in greenfly. Would it be ok to eat these herbs within a few weeks?

Doesn’t sound very ‘organic’ but Tesco Organic Bug Spray is approved by the Dept of Agricutlure and conforms with European Directives. The second ingredient is used as a stabiliser with anti-bacterial abilities.

The herbs should be okay to use after a suitable withholding period of a couple of weeks. If there was a statutory withdrawal period, it would appear on the pack.
