variegated poplar

Helen Dineen asked 14 years ago

I have a variegated poplar tree ( beautiful tree ) It is about 5yrs old. I would like to remove some of the the lower branches as it is resting on the lawn, plus I think it would look nicer with a bit of a trunk. Is it safe to do this and what time of year is best, Spring or Autumn?

Pruning poplar can be done at any time but probably easy to do when the leaves are off.
