I have a pear and an apple tree on my allotment which is waterlogged. Apart from doing major drainage work on the allotment is there any other sollution to this problem? I am affraid that the trees will get root rot. The allotment is leased from my local council.

Fruit trees do not like to be in wet ground for very long as the roots can rot. Many allotments do not allow fruit trees because they are permanent, but that is another issue.
A tree could be planted on a raised mound to keep at least part of the rootball out of the wetness. The mound could be at least one metre across, 20 cm high at the middle and tapering off to the sides.
