White fur on apple trees

We are not sure what type of apple trees we are growing but they are young, they are at a max. of 12″. There is white fur growing on the leaves, it is not on the bark as suggested in so many other people’s blog. Is this a fungus, should I be worried. It doesn’t seem to be doing any harm I just don’t know what it is?

If you crush the white ‘fur’ and there is a red stain, this is woolly aphid and you can spray with Bugclear or similar.

If the grey dusting on the leaves has not red stain, it is powdery mildew and you can use a systemic fungicide or a rose spray, ideally starting when the leaves are small.
