Woolly aphids

JACINTA Doyle asked 14 years ago

I have some woolly aphids on an apple tree. I tried getting a chemical in the local garden centre and was told that Malathion was the only one that would do the trick. But that has been taken off the market. Can you suggest another?

You can control a few coloines of woolly aphid by simply crushing them, or dabbing with methylated spirits on a brush. Although the older insecticides have been taken off the market, they have been replaced by new ones, Including Bayer Provado Ultimate Bugkiller and Westland Plant Rescue Bug killer.
