This invasive plant strangled my complete border which we had to dig up and replant last year. But then it took over the lawn and is now heading back to devour my border again. How can I kill it? For such a pretty little flower, it has caused utter devastation in my garden.

The best remedy is to arm yourself with knowledge of the plants you want to plant before releasing them into the environment. Pratia is an absolute scourge which will run rampant on you and will unfortunately be impossible to eradicate. it will happily grow below where your lawnmower will reach and will clamber over everything in it's wake. Bits you weed will perpetuate in your compost heap and the tiniest amount will produce an acres worth in two years.
If you are to be rid of it, I can only suggest what another gardener told me, as the best remedy for bindweed in a garden, and that is- MOVE HOUSE
There is a dyer need for regulation in the sale of plants in Ireland. Many of the plants available currently in our wonderful land, especially those sold as aerators for ponds, are extremely invasive and a threat to our own native species and ecology.
Please take care in what you choose to plant, and just as importantly how you dispose of the nuisance plants you are weeding. They are bound to outlast you and all our future generations
