Aha! I just emailed the Ask Gerry feature, only to discover how to use this forum - clever me! Does anyone have advice about when I should harvest my onions and potatoes? Onions are Red Baron and Sturon, and both a poking their "shoulders" up and looking very healthy. Foliage has not died back, however, and some have produced seed heads. Potatoes are Duke of York - profuse foliage, few blossoms. But as they are Earlies, I am thinking I should do something soon. Any hints? And what about storage? As we live in the countryside (Ashford, Co. Wicklow), mice are are problem! Thanks, everyone! (UH... make that one "n" in "onion...)

hi Bobbie. If onions have seed heads , I would lift them now, for the rest I would lift a little from the earth, leave for perhaps a week then lift for drying and storage, ( this is possibly incorrect ) as for Spuds, as soon as they finish flowering you can harvest, I only keep a small amount so I lift as required Larop
