Have a lovely clematis, it flowered for the 1st time this year. How do I cut it back for the winter? background

If you are not sure cut it back half way

Tie it for support background

sorry to hijack this thread, this but just wondering if its a climbing clematis (I assume all are) would you still cut the whole lot back half way after pain stakingly weaving it up a wall? Does that have to been done each time? background
