Hello, does any one know where i can a fairly large Cornus controversa - otherwise known as the wedding cake tree?
Here is some info for those not aware of it:
Known as the wedding-cake tree, because of its distinctive, horizontal, tiered habit, this tree makes a lovely focal point for small to medium-sized gardens. It has bright green leaves with bold, creamy-white margins which turn red-purple in autumn and produces clusters of white flowers in June. Although it tolerates dappled shade, it performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in full sun.

I managed to get one for a friend last year in R & R Nurseries Foxford Co Mayo. It was 6foot high and cost €65. It hasnt really started to put out its tiers yet. My other friend in Kiltimagh has one about 9ft and it has obvious tiers.

Hi Protein, I read your query about locating a wedding cake tree. Have a look at my photos as I have one growing in my garden. I got it at Arboretum in Carlow. It is about 3yrs old. I am sure they would arrange delivery of one to you, if you haven't got one already. When planting, if you can, plant against a dark evergreen background as this will complement the variegation. My mistake was I didn't when planting and I can't move it now. Good luck......Tulipmania

Thanks Tulipmania
I like the specimen you have... don't invite me over because I may come calling in the middle of the night with a shovel :-)
