Anyone any good or unusual suggestions for ground cover plants?

There're for largish areas and I want plants that will not rear their dainty little heads more than six or eight inches, say.

I have some in mind but would like to hear of other suggestions.

Hi KS

A little jem i have discovered is Arenaria montana. It form nice tight clumps of white flowers and the greatest attribute is that for propagation, just chop and few pieces and place in compost, and away you go.

Here is a pic of it http://www.nargs.org/gardening/images/Arenaria.montana.jpg

Looks like you need to get a copy of Graham Stuart Thomas 'Plants for Ground Cover'. background
