Can anyone recommend a supplier of compost? I would like to order it by the truck load. Are there organic recycling centers like the UK run by councils?
Bonus would be if they did mulch.
Am based in Clare.
Many thanks

What do you think about mushroom compost? My friend gets it by the lorryload but I think she may let it rot down for a year.

I have not used mushroom compost before.. what are the advantages or disadvantages of this - or maybe its pretty much the same?

I used a company in leinster region. i got good quality compost delivered to Galway last summer. Try google - Enrich compost or enriched compost
From speaking to landscapers and gardeners, spent mushroom compost can be good if you have time and space. it must be rotted down fully. It has a high pH and salt content which are hard on young plants and acid loving plants. If you store it, watch out for smells. Not pleasant near your house!
The compost i got was brilliant, easy to use, i have pretty poor soil here, so i was amazed how well all the plants did. I got plenty of it so i used the rest as a fine mulch. Still has a nice dark colour .
And i think it is made from recycled plant material so it is environmental friendly.

Hi Protein, I may be a little late at this stage, but there is a company based in Pettigo, Donegal called Envirogrind Ltd who manufacture compost and compost blends. They also process Raw bark and produce a variety of coloured mulch.
