Hi Chillipepper - I am in Galway and am growing both chillies and peppers - different varieties - the best chilli we have found is one called Rainbow - small compact plant with masses of flowers - fruit is round starts of purple and then turns red - really good kick to them. Also growing Hungarian Hot Wax, Inferno, Tobasco and Feugo - the peppers are mini bells - supposed to be different colours and sweet also a Marconi Rossi - long red sweet pepper and some bog standard bell peppers.
Most of them are about 2 foot now covered in flowers and some have some pretty decent fruit on them - was still picking chillies/peppers last oct early november last year. I grow them in a greenhouse - the Rainbow chilli is still in flower and no fruit yet but that will come during sept.

Hi Chilipepper and Sharon, I've grown chilis and sweet peppers for a number of years with mixed results. They need a lot of sun - love heat and have a very long growing season. I haven't had great results during bad summers and I also think they prefer glass to plastic and my tunnel may be getting a bit old. Last year I got good results from one called Super Chili fromThompson and Morgan I am going to try some in pots in a sun room this year - Jalapeno and Cayenne. Moya
