Its that time of year again.  The blackbirds are trilling at the top of their little lungs and it is blissful to sit in the garden and listen to them call out to each other.  We are blessed to have blackbirds, robins and thrushes nesting in our garden.  They provide endless fun and the children always enjoyed watching their antics.  Our neighbours have cats but the birds have always been lucky enough to outwit them.  We have a dog - which helps I suppose.  I have a little water garden and the birds delight in bathing and drinking from it.  Now and again we have a hedgehog who wanders in.  This is also very funny, because the dog goes nuts.  She is a little beagle so she howls at the hedgehog especially when it scurries across the deck.  This year, we have had lots of butterflies, cauliflower butterfly, admirals and so on and of course the bees are very busy.  Less welcome are the wasps.  But you can't have everything!!! background
