it is pointless in spraying jkw with glyphosate (roundup) in the spring or summer. it is far better to treat it in late summer or early autumn when the sap is going back down. mick

i agree it is better to treat it in the autumn with two sprays about end of september and and again in october.or cutting hard back in late july and then spray the late emerging shoots.

Does roundup actually work with JKW? I Though that very little got rid of it and the only solutions were horrendously expensive. Of real interest to me because the land adjoining mine is infested with the stuff and its starting to creep onto my land. I go in every few weeks and strim the hell out of it, which makes the problem look better but is not making it go away.
In the UK and most of europe Japanese Knotweed is considered 'toxic waste'. I would be able to sue the person who owns the land next to mine for letting it get out of control. I really, really hate the stuff. You can't build near it - it can turn a prime building site into wasteland, and its impossible to get rid of.
