I am still sort of laid low with the wheezes so not able to avail of the lovely weather today.   Hopefully in a day or two I will be Bright eyed and bushy tailed again and able to get going on all the jobs that await. Meanwhile I have my eye on two items that are coming up in an auction in a few weeks. Was fortunate to see them in situ before they were moved. The seat is alleged to be brass, it is a ton weight but if it is brass it will cost a load so not be coming here!  The various parts are made like tree branches. The statue is one of several which were in niches around the walls of the house. It is about 5ft tall , there are others but this took my fancy.

Lucky me.

I really need help and advice and some of you who did me the honour of visiting may have a comment to make.  But I realise it might be hard to remember the area i am talking about.

Well, I refer to what I call the lower field/paddock/grass patch  to the left of my garden as you come in. in that area i have mainly planted trees and shrubs ttherehough there are a few beds with very higgledy piggledy planting.  Now problem is that i just don't know whether to put a path through the middle of this area or not, thus my post about round stepping stones.  On one hand in the Summer when the grass is cut short I like having no path   there is a feeling of unkempt park about it!  Also the trees /shrubs have  a lot of growing to do. On the other hand there is no hint as to what way one should walk and for a lot of the year the grass is long enough to drench anybody walking there. It is meadow type grass and there are some not very level areas.

The first picture shows part of the lower field looking down the garden, the path would come from the left of the Pine in the foreground and bend around where the Mellifera is in the  right in the distance

The second picture is a reverse view of almost the same area.

Lovely day here really sunny and warm, wonderful. So for the first time in yonks I did work in the garden. I gave Oakbird his Spring painting of Linseed oil , so Fran my chunk of wood is looking well, haha!!!!!

Then I attacked the patio area and did a good clean up job huge pile of stuff ready to bring to the dump.  After that  I did my most dreaded job and armed with big green bag collected the many loads of stuff I had cut back as far back as October. Next came the spreading of some of the lovely manure that Tony had brought me.

I noticed that the Tetrapanax had started to produce new leaves. The trunk has grown so much that this year it won't suffocate the plants beneath.

Many Daffs blooming and the Cardaminee starting, thanks so much for that Gracedieu. Also planted out some of the Ajuga my so kind ie friends gave me.

Pulmonaria 'Benediction' is looking well, it is a lovely blue, deeper than seen in the photo.

Then indoors for a Coke and a Ciggie:)
