I do hope you all will be able to attend the ceremony of awarding a medal for bravery to this Fuchsia microphylla. It stands erect covered with flowers and ignoring the frosts of the past nights.  None of your odd flower here and there for this lad as it bids farewell to Summer oh no this is one plant with attitude.

Yes it was , a lovely day indeed. Did a lot of work some fun some not. Once again in awe of the colour this year , though a bit overcast the colours just ignored  it and shone through like beacons. The first photo shows Cotinus Grace on the left, in centre is Acer Ozakasuki  , nearly gone over now, and to the right E. alata. Darmera is seen on the left of the pond and the Turtle to the right!

Second photo is Cotinus Grace such a lovely orange/yellow.

Finally , the Fatsia with flowers contrasting against leaves looked really well. I was amazed that it seems to attract loads of flies , a few flying creatures I had never seen before had also come to dine.

Good weather for gardening well garden related stuff! So I set to work to build my latest little wall. This is in a corner where I recently cleared out about 10 cornus and a few shrubs. It is the area one sees on coming in the gate and was dark and messy looking. So I imported some of my very own home made compost ( very proud) and Tony's manure to make a bed where I can plant cheerful bright cottage gardeny plants to welcome visitors. This is not my bestest wall but it will have stuff growing over it. I need to get some soil in there too to have a good mix. It looks so different to a month ago:)

In a piece of this Pulmonaria?   It has a lovely leaf , not Diane Clare  but quite like it. I will be  dividing it over the next few days.

Good ole Geranium Rozanne.  It always puts on a great show in November; seems to take a rest late in the Summer and then burst forth again . No wonder it is plant of the Century. In the photo the flower heads are bent down after heavy rain.

Yes look at where the wood chips are now!!   Cherub in the form of Eddie who helps me in the garden moved the lot for me. It took a full three hours work but well worth it to have it moved. I actually heard the plants and bulbs give a sigh of relief as light appeared. So greatly cheered by events I decided to tackle a spot that just was not right. This involved cutting down a Rambling Rector and lots of other bits and pieces. Still two large shurbs to be dug up and moved and then decisions with what to do with the area. Acer Osakasuki had reached the red phase and is looking splendid.
