There was no possibility ...

... of doing any gardening today.  Wet, windy and miserable all day here, quite a contrast to a few days ago when these first two photos were taken.

I usually try to be positive about January, though it can be hard at times.  Only a week more to go.  Let's hope the weather is kinder next Friday for our visit to Altamont.

Pretty in pink and still going strong

This kaffir lily which was given to me as a very small plant last spring by an ever-generous garden.ier has come on by leaps and bounds.  I wasn't even expecting it to flower in its first year.  Well, it first opened in late October and is still going strong today.

And look, there are two new shoots!

Thank you Fran, I absolutely love this plant.

What a lovely afternoon we had at Johnstown today ... meeting, chatting, giving and receiving, plant swapping and just having a great time.  Huge thanks to Hazel for organising the day; to Bruno and Conrad for the kris kindle, Deborah for the raffle and to the Johnstown staff who looked after us so well ... and to ClaireE for enjoyable company and of course to everyone who gave me plants.  Lots of planting fun lies ahead!

I've just put up a small album and look forward to seeing everyone else's photos of a great day.

Digitalis 'Pam's Choice' : 10 small foxglove plants from 2012 seed
Digitalis - white and pink : 5 or 6 of each

Seeds:  eccremocarpus.  Apologies to those who were hoping for seed from digitalis 'Pam's Split' ... it didn't produce any!

Already promised and bringing:  Hellebores for PWiseman (1 plant + 2 seedlings); Buddleia 'Royal Red' for Jacinta and Fran (Fran, if you prefer I can keep yours in my greenhouse until spring).

If I've promised anyone plants not listed, please remind me.  Looking forward to seeing you all on the 13th.

... I took the plunge and joined garden.ie club.  And what a great year it has been, way beyond my expectations.  Making new friends, meeting other gardeners on the site, visits to members' gardens and friends visiting me, get-togethers for other garden visits, so much good advice, great chat, plant swapping, sharing and fun.

My first journal was titled "Keeping my new year resolution" and I can only say I've never kept a better one!  Thank you all so much for a wonderful first year, Happy New Year to everyone and here's to more of the same in 2013.
