Hi everyone, just when you thought they had exterminated Badger's, one pops up after some absence.

Yes it's been a long time, some of you will remember me, some probably don't want to, and then of course there's the new one's, we will see how that goes.

Looking at my last entry I had a shock it was way back in 2012, where did that time go ?   Its been a difficult time and a lot has gone on which prevented me from writing, some practical some emotional and of course time to sit and write.

I will post some photos of the garden as it is now, you will see some I posted on my photo page, so that you can see the difference, I have a new dog,, yes I know what I said back in 2012, but when I post a picture of him when he was a pup, you will see how difficult it was to refuse him.

Hi folks, this little Badger has been hibanating and keeping his head down, as things have been a bit difficult, the Irish govenment is trying to exterminate all Badgers, including me, but hay,  what the hell, life goes on and so does my garden, been very busy developing a bit more, (under orders from her indoors ) We have cut back the scrub picked out all the rocks ( or at least Lola has, God bless her ) and levelled the soil as best we can and sowed No 2 grass seed, its started to show, but it is very slow, won't be cutting it this year, the area is now ripe for some choice trees now.

I have included photo of the "before and after look" and how it is at the moment, all done by hand, ( fair and mighty ) i might add

Disaster ! what a month

After losing poor old Ben, and by the way, thank you all for your kind words, we are coming to terms with the fact that he has gone, no more dogs though, i could never replace him, and anyway we are now free to do the things that was a bit restrictive in the past.

Just as we were recovering from that we both caught what we thought was food poisioning, but it turned out to be a very, VERY, virilent bug, it laid us out for a whole week, just getting over it and felt like walking around the garden, ( god, the weeds in just a week ) and took the camera to take photos to post here and as i was walking along the edge of the pond slipped on wet bit, and almost fell in the pond, but in the end i got wet trying to fish the camara out of the pond, and yes it was strapped to my wrist, how the hell it came off, heaven knows, but its now ruiened, i only hope that i can still get the photos off the chip.

And just like Scrubber i to am having major problems with the computer, i think it is likely to be signal strengh or possibly the modem.

They say things come in 3s, lucky its not 4s or 5s

I'll post a photo to cheer us all up from earlier in the year.

Goodbye Ben

Goodbye Ben

How lovely all you people are, i am sure that many of you have suffered a lose of some sort, so you will know how i am feeling, Ben was my companion for the 14 years i was living on my own and without him many of lifes problems would have been unbearable, then i met Lola, and he gave her the same attention, Lola was also very willing to take on a relationship that included Ben, and very quickly got to love him too, I truly believe that ben waited tell Lola and i were settled in our life together before he left us, Bless his cotton socks.

My mate Ben

Here is a photo of the very best friend a man could have, clever, funny, loyal, intuitive, Gentle, and loving, he has given me 14 years of abosolute pleasure but yesterday i had to have him put to sleep as his quality of life has ended, he could not walk or stand up after a stroke earlier in the week, he would not eat or drink, so it was time to go and join all my friends and family in the spirit world

Just a note to anybody else who was offended about my comments when i said

" that us Englishmen were scroungers" the remark was in jest, and not a "blanket" coverage of all English people, I made the remark in fun and i was hoping that it would be recieved as such, So i appologise to those who did not see my side of humour, so for my sins i offer a peace offering.

Galway culture B.B.Q compitition

What an amazing sight

What an amazing sight

Well i.ve just got back from a wonderful day in Galway, the idea of this day was to bring people from many cultural backgrounds and each society cooked food to impress the judges, we got there first and sampled most of what was on offer, it was all excellent.

The day was dry and warm enough and i was amazed at the friendlyness of everybody ( the only irish were a traveller team ) there were representitives from 16 countrys, all who have their own society in Galway, there was a real buzz about the place, everybody mixing together and having a great time, everybody offered their food to the public and all were so generious, a superb atmosphere, and it did not cost a bean, nil, nothing, zilch.

It's funny but my experience in multi cultural societies having worked with many whilst training in London, is that there is never any trouble, but as soon as Officialdom starts interfering, then trouble starts. ( ooops sorry, geting on the soap box now.)

My wife, being Russian had a lovely time talking to her countryman, and it pleased me as she must miss her country, and talkig to people in Russian put a big smile on her face, NOW that makes me happy, more photoes in my photo album under shows.

On the way home we encountered this amazing rainbow, photo doe's not do justice to the amazing colour
