I bought these two small Japonicas some weeks ago in Aldi and repotted them. They appear happy and healthy. Any experts out there regarding expected size and future care ???

This bed needs thinning. The Peonies compete with the Black Lilies (which my wife hates as there is a foul smell from them) Iam considering sorting these Lilies once and for all !!

Well Iam glad to report that the willow wands my neighbour presented me with some months ago all appear to be sprouting.. I hope to weave these eventually into a "living fence" which is why I planted them in a sequence of colors, green, brown and red. I have planted them too close but a little thinning out will sort that. Anyhow its a project for the next few years.

To me Daffodils were well, just Daffodils. Its only recently Ive come to realise they come in many different shapes and hues.

I think I have four different varieties about the garden but if anyone knows the names of these I promise to remember them.. the names that is !

Cana

Cana

I stopped by Woodies on the way home for a packet if parsnip seed. I have no idea or recollection as to how these two Cana Corms ended up in the boot . Anyhow do I set these indoors for outdoor container planting or plant out later . Should I bring them in each winter ??? The advice on the packets was minimal to say the least . Plant 8 cm deep and that was it !!! HELP . Will exchange huge Parsnips for good advice

Today conditions were just right for working the veg garden. It had already gotten one digagging over and 12 barrows of homegrown farm manure. Two drills of earlies in and the onion sets like wise. She who must be obeyed then appeared enquiring " were the peas in " so like the dutiful hubby i am the peas then got sorted . I have peas sprouting indoors but decided against putting these in as frost is forecast . Instead I opted for some sown direct into drills and hopefully by the time they germinate first danger will be past . This now leaves me with another drill of peas to go in later !! All this before 1pm... Good to be alive day. Afterwards I planted out five Geums that I had potted up over the winter . Red and yellows together for some contrast .

When I discovered this tray that I had forgotton about I wondered what was in it.. Well three clumps of Dahlias that I had lifted last winter thats what I found.

Now do I seperate all these individuals and plant up in pots or plants them in groups ??

I had them seperated before I began to wonder what the heck am I going to do with so many..

The Border got its first few plants yesterday. Three Harkness Roses and two Heathers. I just know I will be filling in the blanks tooooo. Bought the Roses from Kilkenny SOS garden center and he was low on stock as a Gardener had just left with over 40 Hybrid T's. Still Iam happy enough with the three I got at €10 each. Popped into woodies after and wouldnt you know it they were selling Roses off, two for one but quality not very good.

The Roses even got a feed of Toprose today in the rain

Border

Though I had posted this last night but no show ? Web site problems again ? I manures the veg garden with the ten barrow loads of free farmyard manure in between hail , sunshine and showers. Ready for the earlies now in the next ten days or so. Ground is getting nice and workable too. On way in for a cuppa I decided to join up two adjacent borders on the spur of the moment as you do when you have shovel in hand . The two hens found it todsy and decided to level it for me !! peas are now planted indoors for a faster start as are various seed trays of flowers , Isnagged go escape from Zlidl last night without breaking the bank despite dome nice stuff in store. Settled for a few more seed packets and three Echinaceas .
