The roadside planting is now displaying some nice new life . Had forgotten I had planted Dahlias roadside too. The Daisies are showing well too . Next year should be good when the Geums and Other shrubbery like Fushias and Potentilla mature

Came home to find these two Sunflowers open.

Nice surprise on an otherwise drab evening . grown from seed and different varieties is good. One is bright and cheerful the other dark and serious ! Now awaiting the others I have about the place to see what comes about

While doing a general tidy up in the Veg garden today I spotted this Paulownia T that I had forgotten about. It's the best one by far and for a two year old doing well. It's actually planted in a dry corner under a huge old Ash Tree. Seems to like the dry conditions there . I've now planted two more opposite this one . I still have about 25 in pots if anyone is interested ?

Flower ID

These are from my late friend Larry's garden. Larry died early January this year and iam looking after his house and garden until it's sold. These are clump forming , tall with lovely soft velvet like stems and leaves. A name would be nice as I've now planted some seedlings in my own garden. Now it's off to Thurles for Munster final with Waterford and Limerick in the minor. No gardening today except hopefully a good yield from Semple Stadium .

Weed or Flower

Weed or Flower

Is a weed simply a plant in the wrong place. When I was a Chap these Poppy flowers were in all the meadows and roadside. Intensive agriculture finished them in farmland. They would make a great display in large numbers even if they are now considered weeds...

i have them popping up in my back driveway which is loose gravel which they appear to love. I know I'll regret leaving some to flower .

Anyone else bothered with Hayfever today?? I am suffering lots today despite the rain and overcast conditions

The Camelias have started to develop brown patches on their leaves and are only just ok at present. is this a deficiency or other ailment. Any advice welcomed. Both are in pots of ericaceous compost too ..

this Clematis has no name so one would be most welcome . Thanks in advance

Lovely scent in my backyard terrace these evenings. The Roses are all contributing and looking healthy. Noticed some Aphids two days ago so I sprayed all again. you do really have to admire and study the roses closely to appreciate them.

Took a visit ( or a road trip as my daughter called it ) to Altamount today. Posted up a Gallery of some photos also. As usual I didnt allow enough time. I think Aoibhe enjoyed the day but when I caught her yawning after two hours I guessed it was time for the road again.

I enjoyed the almost cottage garden feel to to the grounds. Nothing too manicured and plants allowed to more or less do their own thing. Only realised when home that we missed the entire river walk.....

Bought two plants on the way out as one does and these are now planted beside my Tropical Cana, Lobelia Cardinalis and a White Echinacia. Hope these are both Perennials ?
