Todays rain was the ideal opportunity for some Potting on or is it potting up ? I appear to have overdosed on Cosmos even if they are different varieties . I still have two trays to do not to mention a tray of Stock also ..The New Dahlias from seed are showing well .

The greenhouse was pleasant today at 17-18 degrees but yesterday's 35 degrees was too hot . Maybe I'll try Bananas next . Tomatoes starting to flower and they relish the heat at least . 4 different varieties. I never knew you could propagate Tomatoes from a strong side shoot by rooting it in a glass of water !!!

I have Aubergines indoors and they will get a greenhouse bed when large enough .  Cucumbers are already in place as are some peas as an indoor experiment .

Sometimes the neglected beds just do their thing . A nice cottage garden effect with Geum , Lupin , Astilbe , Kniftophia, Allium and others . The row of Mrs Bradshaw Geum just get on with it also

26 Figs showing already so the move from a container to a permanent location must have suited.

The wellies are also showing nice Dahlias even if my dog did drag one about the lawn for a walk yesterday.

Iam enjoying the green house and it does add to ones alternatives

I wasn't too far off with my calculations . 14 bags of compost and 1 bucket of chicken manure gone into the greenhouse beds . The six left over won't go to waste either .

Six trays of seed also planted up , Four Cosmos of different colour, one of Stock and some Peppers .

Overboarding with compost

Overboarding with compost

No, not a new gardening technique but my trip to the local co op and Aldi this morning . The car boot contains 8 bags of their 40 ltr compost and I bought 12 bags of 75 ltr in the co op . Well bought eight and four " free " .

I mau have over estimated the required amount  sure it won't go off ! On a sad note our  Bord na Mona plant at Littleton is to close after over 60 years in production . 70 full time and 50 seasonal jobs gone . Huge blow to the local rural villages and county Tipperary in General.

Now time to get composting . It's great to have a greenhouse to keep the chill off while outdoors I've just discovered ....

got a few hours this evening so managed to get the timber home and cut to size . I left just enough space to get at the shelving . Now all I need is about twenty bags of compost . A friend said that Aldi Compost is cheap but cheap is not always best ? The Aldi bags are small too I think .

I have the tomatoes ready and cucumber sprouting so these two will be first . I wonder what else would like a new bed . Any ideas friends ?
