This little lady has been flowering away all summer on the north facing gable of my house . Growing from the tarmac , no soil , no feeding , no watering ! Still flowering today as I removed some moss. Judy goes to show !!

Abutillon Cuttings

29 October 2017 14:52:42

My first Abutillon was given by a bee keeping friend this year . I am wondering can it be propagated from lateral side shoots like these shown ? I believe the plant itself dies over winter ?

Ideas please ..

I've cleared out the Greenhouse beds today and am now wondering how best to make winter use of them ?

Ive planted up one with some Foxgloves that were self seeding about the place and sowed some Bean for Sprint planting out.

Apary from the various pots and cuttings etc I've room for more ! Just wondering what others do ?

I must have planted these up from smaller plants or seeds but for the life of me a name is not to hand . They are nice and doing well in the Greenhouse . Hopefully they are perennial ? They look like Pinks ?

I came upon this carved stone slab today in the grounds of KELLS Priory and ruins Co Kilkenny . The Ruins date back to the 12th Century and later works in the 1500s . The poem is probably later but still interesting to us gardeners today . Try and read the words if you can but clearer images are available from Mr Google .

These 2 were still going strong today and giving beautiful scent . Thanks to Dicks advice I take Rose cuttings every year now and most do well . These 2 are for some Cuttings tomorrow ... before I forget

The Holly was grown from a little plant I pulled from an old cobbled yard three years ago and is covered in berries already . I bet there's none left for Christmas though !
