Snow in Cork!
Woke up this morning, just the same frost as the last few days. Stood up after breakfast to get ready to go out and all was changed, snow pouring down. It's almost stopped now, but activities for the day have been cancelled. That's the great thing about being retired, you have a choice about most things.

Snow (or just frost?) on Avocado.
This is my Avocado, grown from a stone, with a light dusting of ,I think, snow, but maybe it's just frost. I would have thought it would be dead by now!

Tree silhouettes
I was interested in the piece in the Irish Garden as the picture was quite like the Ash tree at the end of my garden.

More Autumn leaves
This is Viburnum Opulus, the Guelder Rose. It's only a couple of years old.

Up already!
I only planted these Autumn Crocus a few weeks ago and lo and behold they're flowering!

Full moon
This is my pathetic entry. Either I need a better camera, or I left it too late or I'm just a useless photographer! Is there a booby prize?

Pots planted up
I called to Woodie's yesterday to get some Nyjer seed for the birds and some Violas for a bit of colour. Needless to say I had a look at the reduced rack as well and got a variegated Vinca and a yellow Chrysanthemum. This morning was lovely so I potted up some of the Violas with the Vinca, some more with some Lamium that I had dug up from under the trees and put the rest in a bowl I got (reduced of course) last year with a small conifer and a few Polyanthus. Then I did some cutting back in the front as the path was being encroached on and shredded that for the compost bin. I took the afternoon off then and went bird-watching in East Cork-- very interesting though it was really cold!!

Cornflower out of season
Spotted this in the garden this morning, I always think you appreciate things more when they are unexpected.

Perennial sweet pea seeds?
I have a few pods that look almost ripe if anyone is interested. It's pinky-purple, I think quite ordinary.

Minor wind damage
Went out yesterday morning to have a look around and this is what I saw. Luckily there were only Petunias in both the window box and the pots in the plant stand and they were on their last legs anyway. I put the broken bits in water and the rest of them out on the patio in the back to finish off their lives!

Really wet and windy to such an extent that our card group called off the game tonight -- unprecedented!

Unexpected flower
This Streptocarpus got left on the patio earlier in the year, and to my amazement yesterday morning I spotted a flower on it!

Glad this Petunia broke off..
Because I never noticed before the lovely markings at the centre of the flower. This is the second bud to open indoors, in water, and there's another one I'm hopeful about.

Flowering in November
I went out the other day to see if I could find anything in flower in the garden and was amazed to count over twenty different species. Admittedly some of them are just hanging in there and a bit scruffy! I'll put up an album .

Rescued Petunia
The plastic greenhouse broke a bit of a Petunia when it fell on it and as it had a few buds I stuck it in water--and now I have a flower!
