Is it just me or does anyone else find the tulip jumping up and down very distracting and annoying?

Mixed bulbs
A Dutch friend of ours brought a big bag of mixed bulbs to a group of us in the summer so we divided them up not knowing what anything was. So far I have white Crocuses (great as I hadn't white ones), a nice mauvy striped one, a blue Hyacinth, a Daffodil and an orange or red tulip just coming out.

Grass-cutting
After my usual start of the season battle with the lawn-mower, and having to go and buy more petrol, I eventually succeeded in cutting the grass! Not wonderful, but better than it was.

Lovely day for a cycle
It turned out a beautiful day here but no gardening done as a few of us went for a cycle round the Clonakilty area. Absolutely gorgeous. Then when I got home I spotted this lovely sky. Not a great photo I'm afraid, but my tea was getting cold so I couldn't waste time trying various settings!!

Rough and ready
It was damp here this morning but not actually raining so I got a bit done in the garden. I mixed up garden compost and gee-up, which we got free at the Seminar in Fota in the Autumn, and did a very rough job of spreading it on one bed in the back garden, pulling out some weeds and other undesirables like Violets, which are lovely, but seed themselves absolutely everywhere. The grass could do with a trim if we ever get some weather that is properly dry and not frosty!

They think it's May!
My climbing rose, which usually flowers in May-June, has two fine buds.

Some seeds up already
It always amazes how fast some seeds are at getting going. Amaranthus, Schizanthus, Portulaca and Rudbeckia are already up.

Seed-sowing
Everyone seems to be starting their seeds so I decided to get going today, having washed my seed-trays yesterday. I put in 12 different lots, 2 to a tray, mostly annuals, but some perennials and including Schizanthus, Lobelia, Salpiglossis, Portulaca, Astrantia, Echinacea, Nicotiana and Malope. Some did well for me before and others failed so I decided to try again. Time will tell!

Muscari
Did a bit of weeding today, removing thugs like Montbretia and a Spurge that had become a scourge as well as the usual weeds, and I spotted the first of my Muscari in flower.
