rogue tomato

came across this tomato plant growing in the gravel beside the kerb when i was out weeding. there's a bit of weedkiller damage on it but you can see about 3 tomatoes on it

i wouldn't mind i've never in my life planted a tomato seed and the house next door is not yet lived in and on the other side of me there is no veg garden...strangely enough i have another one growing about 40 ft away in the gravel on the driveway

work is paying off!

Blaithin hard at it

Blaithin hard at it

getting the garden back in shape eventually TG. Blaithin and myself started on the house itself yesterday power washing and painting.

i'm really glad to be at this stage now as i can see some real results from all the work. it really is worth it-might not seem like it when you're doing it but once done it feels good

just tidying up the borders and noticed the whitefly on the leaves of the hellebores.

i dont think they do any harm and they cant be seen unless you look into the plant itself

deep gash

deep gash

i planted this october glory last autumn as i thought it looked really stunning and thankfully it turned out to be however i just noticed this gash in the trunk. no.gif

it hasn't affected the crown of the tree so far but i'm hoping it will not cause any long lasting damage as the trunk gets thicker with age

cracked and brown jacquemontii

cracked and brown jacquemontii

about 3 months ago i started peeling the dirty bark off the whitebarked birch. i peeled too deeply and was left with what is now a cracked brown stem.

i've often peeled the bark before but never so deeply and to this day i dont know why i din't stop when i saw i was going too deep. fingers crossed it will revert to a nice white stem and no damage will be done
