wig wams

29 May 2009 22:58:46
hi everyone hope you all have sunshine and are enjoying it. i have spent weeks deciding what to use to train my clematis and today i decided on a very quick and easy way to do it, i made wig wams with three bamboo canes and some string, had the 5 of them made in no time and all it cost was the price of the banboo canes and they are very secure(i hope), they actully look better than a trelis if i do say so myself. i was going to put in stakes and wire i got in aldi but when i saw how far out the branches of the hedge behind them was coming out it wouldnt do them any favours. decided to harden of the last pieces in the tunnel tomatos and the begonias amd a few lilies all that is left is the veg patch which i made a couple of weeks ago, looks so empty now, not for long plan to take loads of cuttings in the next few weeks and pot on my peppers and my chrysanthums. well thats it for today. happy gardening everyone

hi everyone did nothing much in my garden this week as i have been busy doing mums plan to do some stuff in the tunnel if its raining and planting of more flowers and shrubs i bought in aldi and woodies i am deadly when it comes to flowers i cant go into a garden centre or supermarket with picking up something love all my flowers to bits and hate when something dies. i bought a rhodadenron couple of years ago and today is the first time i have seen it flower. it has a lovely flower mix of pink and peach and it also looses its leaves in winter. i though they were all evergreen. well happy gardening everyone

weeds

13 May 2009 22:53:09

hi everyone hope you all well. busy weeding for mum, 2 flower beds left, done loads to day before dinner then went back this evenin had just started weeding when the rain came. i was lookin out the window today and noticed loads of weeds coming up in mine again. the dandolines are a very regular weed in my garden no matter how much i dig them up the brats seem to come again. i noticed in mums its buttercups that had taken over her beds and they have a big root also. trying to keep ahead with the weeds in my garden so that i am not spending all my time on my knees from moms and then mine, putting in extra bits in to the different beds and weeding at the same time. hope to sow rest of my salad stuff in to there new home in the tunnel when itsd raining outside and i cant do any thing at mums. well thats it for now

happy gardening

wind and rain

06 May 2009 22:40:56
hi everyone. hope all are well. didnt get anything done the last couple of days because of the horrible weather we are having. the poor planrts are getting a terrible start outside, hopefully things will improve. bought some grasses today. not a major fan of the grasses got lovely bronze ones though so see how they go.my patio is turning into a real oasis. lidl are going to have japanese maples tomorrow so when i have them added i will take a photo and put it on the site. i want to light it up a bit, was thinking candles rather than plastic solar panel lights. if anyone has any susgestions i would love to hear from you. well thats it for now hope the weather improves because the days are very long when its horrible. i tend to go to garden centres and do damage, not good news for my laser card or my pocket.before i go, went into the tunnel today and found all my lettuce and spring onion are up. and my tomatoe plants are in flower was thrilled to bits, my peppers are not even showing yet. happy gardening everyone

computer woes

04 May 2009 00:16:37

hi everyone i am back. we had a hacker on our computer, someone posing as eircom sent an email asking for our password and hubby gave not realising that it was a hacker. i didnt want to do anything on the computer in case they had access to any other part. thank god its sorted now and i can get back in touch with you all. how is the gardening going? have been up to my eyes with planting out what i hardend off and also doing mums garden which has aot more work to be done. now that i dont have the small ones i wil have plenty of time. i always find some new project to work on in my own garden, done my patio yesturday will put up picture of before and after tomoorow hopefully. i want to make nursery beds just outside the tunnel and extend veg patch. never a dull moment around my place. i think hubby is right at the rate of digging i am doing there wont be any grass to cut. yipee for him. tunnel is nearly empty now but not for long, i have plans to take plenty of cuttings, just my tomatoes plants and a few bits and pieces left. well happy gardening
