to hot to work

hi everyone didnt do much this eve was to hot to do any weeding so i mowed the lawn and watered the flowers. have new project on pipeline. decided the hedge at the front looked so bad it has to go so i am going to take it out and put in an escaonia hedge the pink evergreen one.and put a bamboo screen behind it as a wind breaker. the hedge that is there now is very hollow and doesnt look good anymore. hope i can get some weeding done tomorrow if it is not to hot. goodnight all and happy gardening

big loss

28 June 2009 19:25:08
hi everyone all my cabbages have to go from the tunnel and lettuce, my daughter thinking she was helping put slug pellets in the cabage and lettuce it is laced with it which is dangerous as it goes into the cabbage and no amount of washing or boiling will get it out, we are not sure if that is what has made both myself and hubby and daughter sick, my son is the only one that didnt get sick cos he doesnt eat cabbage, still feeling sick all the time when called west doc last nite to make sure and they contacted the poisons unit and they said that you would need to eat a handfull to have a serious effect. my brother in law works in ffyes and told us that when it goes in to the cabbage its like the bloodstream of a human nothing will get it out so we are going to destroy it to be on the safe side and i will do a fresh batch, still have the cabbage in the outdoor veg patch so not to bad. better safe than sorry. well thats me for now did nothing today got all my circles finsihed and mulched so hopefully wont have as many weeds, well thats it for now. does anyone know a safer way to kill catapillars than using catapillar spray. they are making lace of some of my outdoor heads the joys eh

weeding and mulching

25 June 2009 23:00:06
hi everyone got weeding done today and some mulching, didnt put membrane down though i am keeping the circles free and two other beds so that i can still plant stuff just mulching them as i have them weeded so that the weeds dont have a chance to regrow over night which would"nt surprise me, i seem to have a unending battle with weeds, not matter how much of the root i get out by digging deep they always find their way back. i still have"nt sprayed the roses, everytime i go to do them its too breezey and dont want drift i will get them done yet, done a few odd jobs yesturday, fixed my hanging basket hook yesturday out front it had come loose ages ago and the basket fell and potted on a few small gerainiums and mini peppers that were nearly out growing the seed tray, wasnt up for much have a viral infection in my stomach which is driving me crazy so to keep my mind of it i try to keep busy without overdoing it, cant sit down me to hyper. well i think its time for a cream doughnut and my new gardeners world mag that i got today, cant wait for my first irish gardeners mag to come in the post, well thats it for now. goodnight everyone and happy gardening.

pot washing

22 June 2009 23:32:21
hi everyone got all my pots washed on saturday, then my mum gave me some more this eve. didnt do much today went to town and came home with a new mircle gro feeder, i dropped my old one last week, carol klein recomened therm in junes issue of gardemers world, the cutting dont rot as easily compared to plastic pots bought 12 in total, plan  to do alot of propagating also bought a new fish tank as the one i had was leeking and nearly ruined my gardening books, instead of throwing it out as it is made of glass i am going to use it as a propagator waste not want not, hope to spray my roses tomorrow and do some weeding, happy gardening everyone

12 June 2009 23:01:02
hi everyone got alot more work done today spent the morning taking bark out of a flower bed, then spent the rest of it shoveling stone from a trailer and putting stone on it. it looks great and i keep telling myself it will never have be weeded again all the hard work will have payed when i will be spending less time weeding and more time with the kids and doing some much needed work in the tunnel and relaxing. HEAVEN. i cannot find the email sent to me about mullingar. does anyone know if i am to late, hope not really want to go. well thats all for now. taking the day off tomorrow and go shopping with my friend and my daughter. cant wait.happy gardening

more weedblock less weeds

10 June 2009 22:40:32
hi everyone got more work done today. we decided last night that we would use stone instead of bark so my neighbour brought me over a trailer load so i spent the afternoon putting stone on the bed i had put the membrane, i did some of the bed in bark and the rest in stone it actually looks good one compliments the other, i couldnt face taking up what i had barked so its staying there. i weeded another bed and got it ready for membrane thats my work for tommorow and putting the stone down. well thats my day over. well goodnight and happy gardeing

alot less weeding soon

09 June 2009 23:02:50
hi everyone got more membrane down today. as i weed the beds i am putting down the weedblock. feel more like a woman of 90 than 39.will leave the circles without the weedblock so i can still put in new stuff just mulch it with bark. i bought 2 yuccas in dunnes last week and a bamboo. never had yuccas before. one is varigated and the other is just plain they were only 12euro, looking forward to planting them. wouldnt mind getting two more for the patio. hopefully get some more work done tomorrow. bye for now and happy gardening

weed control

08 June 2009 23:27:53
