hi everyone is it just me or tomatoes on a go slow this year? i have loads of cherry toms, they are still green, i am feeding them every week and not a colour in sight.
I got alot of work done yesturday, was about to start this eve and the heavens opened, the project is dragging out now and getting on my nerves, the garden is like a bomb site, another week should finish it all, hopefully. when we cried for rain we didnt mean this much rain.
we finished the chick run yesturday and put the chicks in, they are quite happy with the freedom but one of them decided this morning that he wanted to venture further and investigate the world beyond the run. I will have to put another layer and mismatch the pattern of the chick wire as he is so small he came out the hole pattern of the chick wire. rebecca found the chick and saw him go back in the way he came out
well thats it for now. HAPPY GARDENING AND HOPEFULLY A SMALL BIT OF SUNSHINE

THE BORROWED HEN AND MY NEW CHICKS
hi everyone
i have been taking a break from the garden the week or so, i dont know is it the weather or just me but the energy levels have been very low but i hope the work will be done at the weekend(WEATHER PERMITTING)it has very changeable lately.
The big surprise has been when a lady that i chat with at the school surprised me with 6 little chicks on monday morning, she also gave me a hen on loan untill the baby chicks have matured. i was so happy as i had said for along time i would love hens. We have been busy planning the chick run which is now under construction by my dear hubby.
I have also been harvesting my first and second earlies, the british queens are flowery, the sharpes not flowery, would def plant more british queens for next year. i have also harvested some broccoli for the rabbits. I sowed some spring cabbage and some carrots in the tunnel the other day, gave up trying to sow carrots outside because no matter what i do the dogs pull up the netting and dig the carrots so i decided to try it in the tunnel where i can control their entry.
hopefully i will get the front garden done and finished well a good part of it anyway.
if anyone has any ideas about keeping mice away from the oats i have bought for the chicks i will be greatfull
