My final journal with the club for a while.

First rose arrives 2011.

First rose arrives 2011.

With this being my final journal for a while i just want to take this opportunity to wish all the gardeners well with their plans throughout the gardens.Im taking a break from the club for a while,as i have not been able to keep up to date with daily journals. To all comments etc i was given i thank you all and the odd one i may not have replied to,i also apologise.

Gardens are a wonderful place. When we enter into them we feel in our hearts a special place. From the beauty and serenity of flowers, the birds and the bees, our home grown vegetables,to the splender of the trees, and much, much, more.Nature comes in many ways. One time it may strike like a force that would almost wipeout a garden.Though when we see the sign of new life on a plant, having almost been wiped out by bad weather, then we cast out natures bad signs.Mother nature may defeat us one way,but in our hearts we will never be defeated.

To fight the battle with pests and diseases will always go on.Who knows maybe some day, they might decide to ease off the garden attack and feel enough of damage has been done by them.I hope the organic tips and tricks etc,may have helped in some way with your garden plans. No matter the attack though, once the sun shines, thats all we want. Its all in gardening.

Good luck with all your plans.

Making liquid feed.

All sealed shut.

All sealed shut.

I gathered together some Comfrey, some Nettles, some aged Manure, some Weeds and Grass. They all have a seperate area. Each barrel is sealed shut for safety and nobody will  ever touch the lids only myself. These will make liquid feeds, for throughout the garden. When one is empty then another will be just ready for use.

Petunias [Confetti mix] in the tunnel.

Petunia [Confetti mix].

Some more of the colour adders for the garden come from Petunias.

They bring splender to gardening.Areas will be marked out for them.

Soon they will be with us in full bloom among the beauty and serenity of flowers in the garden.

Some areas of the vegetable beds will also have a visit from them.

Bare patches disappear and are replaced with gardening on our sides.

Soon all will be filled with flowers etc.

Companions of flowers and vegetables will be also in that area.Despite damp weather all is going well.

Another area to the vegetable garden.

New section starting out well.

New section starting out well.

Down along the side of row A2 i have added on anothe few beds, with vegetables and fruit. We need plenty of sunshine.

Though i feel, that the Blight [Phytophthora infestans] is warming up getting ready to attack both the Potatoes and Tomatoes.

Potato blight will be happy to spread to the Tomatoes as both members of the night shade family, but hat to grow near each other.

Marigold 2011.

22 May 2011 12:50:24
Marigold [French and African]

Marigold [French and African]

The French and African type Marigolds are my main plan with them. Both of these types are a boost to vegetable growing. They are on our sides in the garden.Acting as a form of defence again certain pests, along with some splendid colours.Marigolds help reduce the bad side of nematodes, part of the way.Grow Marigolds, grow.

Geranium [Cranes Bill]

Geranium [Cranes Bill] another favourite.

Geranium [Cranes Bill] another favourite.

Another old favourite here around the top section of the main garden.

We love its different colours, and the saucer shaped bright floral display.

Drought tolerant and splendid ground cover.

Cytisus Broom sweep in the colour..

Cytisus [Broom]

Cytisus [Broom]

Though wind damaged back as always it comes with its pea-like blooms. In sweeps the sunshine,no matter the severity of the weather.I was happy to see the shrub hold well, despite losing some from the other flower beds.Bring on the sunshine to all gardeners and help us win some of the way again Mother Nature.

This item i find a great boost to gardeners.

A great boost to gardening.

A great boost to gardening.

While looking over a few ideas some years back,i noticed one and have always used it.It is made up of and old mobile phone holder that can be hooked to your side.Every name tag you will need is at hands reach. No leaving them down here, there and everywhere.Anytime a name tag for the veg or flower pots or trays etc is needed, then at hands reach the tags are.The pencil will also be held there and that will never get lost. When tags have been used i save them in one area, wash them and into the old holder with them. Some weekends at dinner, tea, even trimming hedges, digging,i have been at,never has a name tag been lost from the old holder.Any large tags will go to one side and allow the top flap to be closed over for extra safety.Pictures will be added.

All resting in the tunnel at night.

A late time visit to the tunnel.

A late time visit to the tunnel.

The picture here was taken about 3-4 weeks ago.Having a quick check over my little friends in the tunnel,as always i always have a fast look around for any unwelcome visitors.Slugs will not be resting but have arose to attack.Though not getting all of them, then even had it been 2-3 or at times 4,always remember it is that amount of the pests less.Grow my little friends, grow.Be prepared to attack the open world of gardening, when the time arrives.

Chives [Alliums]return again.

Chives in the main garden.

Chives in the main garden.

Back for another year are the chives.Another of the old favourites here. The herb Chives have good companions such as Carrots,Tomatoes, and another herb,Parsley.Next to any of the Legume family [Peas and Beans] and they are at war almost with each other. Not just the green is admiralbe with them, but also the purple tips on the tiny stalks.

In the vegetable garden.

In the vegetable garden.

In the vegetable garden.

All is going to plan in the veg garden.Harvested so far have been some Beetroot,Cabbage,Carrots,Spinach and in a short while some early Potatoes.I spotted a butterfly earlier in the week at another garden and warming up they are to send a visit with [Pieris brassicae] caterpillars. We need some luck again them, to name but a few,but also many more will attack.

A late journal.

08 May 2011 16:18:00
Sorry for the late journal to the club.A fast time for all the gardeners, with the weather on our sides [finally] well almost.Though rain has paid a visit for the past while, needed it is.Fine outside, but the tunnel and greenhouse depend on the gardeners supply of rain to them.Weeds have been appearing at a hectic rate and once they grow, then so is the special side of garden for us,with flowers, trees, vegetables etc, etc.Long may the good weather be with us.
