This afternoon turned out to be very pleasent and I did a little bit of pottering in the garden for an hour. I was thrilled to see this epimedium in flower. I bought it at Johnstown a year ago and thought I had lost it but got a nice surprise to see it in bloom today. I also discovered some dodecatheon which I also thought had died, now totally the wrong place but alive!
PS I have put up some photos in an album

Primula Garryard Guinevere
When Hazel and her sister Elizabeth came to visit my garden last summer they brought me this lovely primula. I am delighted that it is doing so well, the gentle pink of the flower shows up against its dark leaves.
Thank you!

I have been enjoying the garden over the past week. Not doing much but just seeing what is coming up and taking photos. It is really looking good with very little help from me!
I love the way the evening sun seems to light up the plants in these photos

Is it a colour clash or a C Lloyd moment?
What a beautiful morning today, blue skies and sunshine. A lot of my tulips opened but I had to laugh at where I had planted some colours! But there is something nice about about being made laugh by your plants :D)

So forgetful!
Ladybird gave me this lovely plant when she visited recently and I thought I would put it at the door step during the day to enjoy the sun and REMEMBER to bring it in at night. Well you guessed it, I forgot it and there was a touch of frost but I was very relieved that it was perfectly fine when I checked it in the morning :)
Thank you, Ruth I hope I will keep it going for the summer.

I have been enjoying this hellebore for weeks, it has stayed in its pot at the front door but I am hoping if the garden dries up that I will get my sister to plant it in the front garden whiles she is here this weekend!
Thank you very much Clare for this bright winter plant.

.........Camellia Jury's Yellow! It is covered in buds.
I have it in a large tub in a sheltered corner between the sunroom and kitchen wall.
I could see that there were a couple of flowers opening and I just had to get a photo. Ron was persuaded to turn the big tub just enough for me to get this photo.
I think it is really early this year. Lots more flowers to look forward to opening.

Just a note to anyone living near Cabinteely Park, the crocus avenue is almost at its peak and looks wonderful, so if you can have a walk there on one of these lovely sunny days, a real treat.
Sorry these photos were taken 2009

Fritillaria Crown Imperials
Most of us know when to buy the more common bulbs, like daffodils and tulips but there are several that I only think of when I see them in bloom and then it is too late and of course I forget again for the next year.
I was reminded of this again this evening when I was watching the Dermot O'Neill's programme. He talked about Fritillaria Crown Imperials and I remembered seeing them in bloom in the garden at Marley Park and promising myself that I would buy them but of course never saw them for sale. Also thought of this when looking at photos of the lovely little Irises.
If someone could tell me when to look for these bulbs for sale I'd put a reminder in my phone. Help if you can, Please.

I will be able to say for sure in the morning when I check the leaf with my own plant, but I think it is Campanula "Pink Octopus"
It was a new plant for my new bit in the front last year so let that be a warning! I was able to give you a piece before the summer was out, need I say any more! One I shall be watching.
But they are very unusual flowers on this campanula so worth having and we shall see how it does. Here are some photos from my one.

Spoilt for choice!
There may not be many flowers in my garden at the moment but I am certainly making up for it indoors! I am running out of vases! But a friend gave me this beautiful arrangment today and all I had to do was put it on the table!
I just had to share it although the photo doesnt do it justice.
