A walk on the bright side!
We have just been out for a lovely walk round the block in the snow! I love that first clean white layer! Mind you my poor hubby has to be up at dawn and out in it so I dont know how much he will like it if it freezes. But I am putting up a couple of photos.

Bramley had asked us to take photos of anything in bloom in the garden. I have just put up an album, they look better there than in the garden as I had to really look for them but it is worth the exercise.

Darcey Bussell Rose
This is the rose!

David with Darcey
I am getting this rose. Couldnt resist it when I saw it in the David Austen catalogue. So I have been googling! Darcey Bussell is an English Ballerina, some of you may have seen her on the judging panel on "Strictly Come Dancing". She is now retired from Ballet (only age 40) she writes childrens books about ballet and one of the characters in her books is called Rosa. I found all this very interesting now that I am looking forward to getting my rose with her name

Nice group of plants
On our walk yesterday I took this photo of a very small garden. But I though the planting was lovely. I see Bramley was looking for plants in bloom at this time but I think she might enjoy the foliage here as well as the flowers.

Getting back to normal!
Although I have had a quick look at journal entries over the Christmas period I have not had time to write anything but now last of visitors gone and I'm back to normal! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. We enjoyed it too and great to have all the family here together. Just sorry today is so wet and didnt manage to get a walk in but yesterday we had a lovely walk along the Vico Road which is one of our favourite places for walking and only a few minutes drive from us. I never get tired of this lovely view.

A very Happy Christmas to one and all!
I have decided that between now and Christmas Day I really must not get on this site! My first visitors arrive on Tuesday and I have a lot to do before then, so no more journal entries till after Christmas!
I hope you all have a healthy and Happy Christmas and that we all return with renewed interest in the New Year!

Cordyline 'Torbay Dazzler'
This plant has had a rough time of it, as you can see it had to be staked as it seemed to blow over easily, the result is that it has a crooked stem and now has divided in to two branches. I dont mind that as it is a really lovely plant, this photo doesnt show it at its best but it is also good colour at this time of year.

Cordyline Australis 'Charlie Boy'
This is the plant I put my €10 voucher towards in Carlow. It is grown by a man in Kilkenny and is safe to have in our winters, so I think it would be another contender for the winter garden, I will probably leave it in a pot till I find the right spot for it.

Really enjoyed the day
I am home safe and sound thanks to Fran! It was a real pleasure meeting everyone, some for the first time. Bill thanks for my lovely plant which I will learn to pronounce properly! not just refering to it as Bill's plant. Also thanks to Clara, Liga,Maureen for plants and seeds. I had a great day and would like to thank Fran again for the lift as I would not have gone otherwise and would have missed out on a great afternoon.

Phormium (could be Cream Delight)
As I came back from my walk in the park, looking at my rather sad winter garden, I realised there were some plants that still look well in December. I wonder would it be a good idea if everyone put up a photo of their favourite plant in their garden at this moment in time. Then anyone who was starting out with a new garden and wanted colour and form for winter could have a look at these plants. It really doesnt apply to me as my garden is quite small and I cant afford to give much space to winter plants, but there are a lot of members with big new gardens who might benefit from this idea. So here is one of my favourites.

For Jack
I have just put up an album of photos Cabinteely Park. I had a lovely walk there this afternoon, the pond will look quite nice if they do some planting round it in the Spring.

Shared Pleasure
This beautiful bunch of flowers was in the kitchen sink when I got up this morning. My daughter is often given flowers by her fiance and I look after them!
