Queen of England
When I came home this evening I was delighted to see my rose bud had opened. A lovely rose, dont know if it has a perfume as I am dosed with a cold!

Another Pot
After seeing Jacinta's lovely pot, I remembered I took a photo of this last week, I had done up some pots for my daughters balcony and had some left over and just stuck them in here and they are just at their best now.

Queen of England
My little grandson was gone early today so I got out to enjoy the garden in the sun. The rhurbarb which I had planted in the back border had grown enormous and was smothering everything, so I dug it up and put it in a big tub, for however long it lives in that I will keep it and then it will have to go as I have no space for it. I also potted on my cuttings from the salvia, they had all rooted and are now in individual pots and hope will survive the winter.
Then I decided that I would do my once a year compost sort out! I have two compost bins and I find that the bottom does very well so I lift the top off and lift the good stuff into what I call the good bin and then start off again with the more fresh stuff. It is a big job but really only takes one day a year so cant complain.
When I took out the rhurbarb I discovered there was two lovely pink buds on a rose that had been hidden by it. I had got it in Lidl and it looks like it is going to be a lovely colour. Will put up a photo when it opens.

With a bit of imagination...........
........its lunch on the terrace!
My little grandson eating chicken goujons at a little table with two chairs on the back path of the house squeezed between the bins and numerous plants in pots! But that his favourite lunch and favourite place to eat it, so it could be haute cuisine on a palace terrace as far as he is concerned! Lets enjoy the simple things in life in this great weather!

Salvia photo for Keego
This is the only photo I can find of this Salvia. As you can see it is a cerise pink and a red would look better here in my "zingy" bed. So if my cuttings take and you would like it I will keep you one.

Standing tall!
Took Drumanagh's advice and hubby planted it about a foot deeper than before and it is now standing tall, with a stake as advised by Fran, which will hopefully keep it that way. If it doesnt live I can always take Martins advice!

To cheer me up!
After the bad news with the cordyline I took this photo of a sidalcea that Clara gave me as a little plant in a pot. I have now put it in to the ground and it is just starting to flower now and is SUCH a lovely colour! Thanks Clare

Roots
Just to show you the type of root system it has or rather the lack of roots. I was wondering if I planted the whole thing deeply, say about 1 foot would it root better and survive. Another thing I was wondering should I cut it off where it divided and plant one of the branches and hope it would root. I am hesitant to dump it as it is a really nice bit of structure in in winter in this bed and I think so much nicer than the ordinary green ones.

Pride before a fall :(
I was shocked when hubby called me out to the garden this morning.........there was my lovely Cordyline 'Torbay Dazzler' lying on the ground. The root completely out of the ground, actually very little root on it. This plant has been staked in the past as it sort of blow over one winter. But it then divided in the top and has now two branches with lovely heads on them. Now a couple of weeks ago I was digging round this area so maybe I severed the little bits of roots that it had. I'm not sure what to do, do I dump it or any suggestions?

Where did I get it?
This is a Michaelmas Daisy, it is covered in buds which are now beginning to open. And it just happens to be the right colour for where it is, total coincidence! I dont know if I got it as a seedling from someone or have grown it from seed from Rachel, so if you are the person please accept my thanks, I really like it.

Great foliage colour
Liga gave me a little seedling at one of the get-to-gethers last year and this is the foliage now. I think it might be penstemon 'Husker', the flowers we rather insignificant but then it only had these couple of stems so I couldn't expect it to make a big show, but it certainly makes up for it in foliage colour!

Been shopping!
Went to Lidl this morning, well to be honest to two branches of Lidl! And it was worth going to the second one as they still had a good variety. I have lots of bulbs from last year but couldnt resist some more! so another 80 to plant but its early yet so no hurry.

Silene 'Jack Flash'
Cant wait to show you this! I sowed seeds away back in the spring and only 5 germinated and out of that I have now only 3 plants and only 1 of those doing well! I think Deborah said she didnt have any success with it either (which makes me feel a bit better). It has finally flowered! I should wait until it is making a descent show but I'm so excited about it I just had to put it up! I will put another couple of photos in the August album.
